Processes and approvals

A process fills in a table’s records one step at a time, each step its own form, as an approval flow does.

Set up a process

  1. 1In Collections, choose New › Process and pick its table.
  2. 2Add its steps, each with the fields it asks, in order.
  3. 3If you like, name each step’s owners: they alone fill it in.

Follow the work

The process’s page shows each step with the records waiting at it, then those done. Start adds a record through the first step, and a record opens as a stepper. Waiting for me shows those waiting for you.

Approvals

  • Complete the step a record waits at to move it on.
  • Send it back a step, or reject it, with a reason.
  • Every move is kept in the record’s history: who, when and why.

Steps that do more

  • Add records to a linked table, such as a client’s contacts, so many at least before going on.
  • Make the record’s document from one of its templates, ready to print.
  • Ask a step only when a choice holds some values, and skip it otherwise.

Tell people

Workflows hear each step reached, finished or rejected, so you can email a step’s owners when a record waits for them.
