Bookings without double booking
A booking rule keeps a resource from being held twice at the same time, as a hotel, a rental agency or a clinic needs.
Set a booking rule
- 1Open the table’s Details › Booking.
- 2Choose the resource (a linked record, a choice or a name), and the start and end fields.
- 3If you like, choose a field whose values free the resource, such as Cancelled or No-show.
An end day is free for the next start: a guest checking out leaves the room to the one checking in that day.
What it refuses
A record that would hold the resource while another does is refused, from the grid, a form, an import or a workflow, naming the record it clashes with. Records already clashing when the rule is set stay.
A public booking page
For a rule whose start has a time, turn on a booking page: the slot’s length, a pause between slots, the opening hours and days, and the details a visitor gives. Visitors pick a resource, a day in the next three weeks and a free slot, without an account, and never see anyone else’s booking.
Confirmations and reminders
Send them with a workflow: when a record is created in the table, send an email.
